During Heart Month, Knar Jewellery ran a Heart Awareness raffle in support of St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation. Jeff Buzbuzian, owner of Knar Jewellery visits St. Mary’s General Hospital to present proceeds from the raffle to Lisa Short of the Foundation, and meet the winner of a beautiful Frederique Constant “Open Heart” watch. Cardiac Nurse Jennifer Glass was the lucky winner of this beautiful watch. Thank you Knar!

The 4th Annual Tri-City Foundation Fundraiser supporting the Foundations of St. Marys General Hospital, Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Grand River Hospital was a resounding success, raising over $50,000. Thank you BMO for hosting this informative and entertaining evening. Thank you for your continued commitment to the health care of this community.

Representatives of the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation present a donation of $250,000 toward the purchase of a new $1.4 million x-ray camera for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at St. Mary's Regional Cardiac Care Centre. This cutting-edge technology will improve patient care and safety, and will replace a camera which was purchased when regional cardiac services were first launched at St. Mary's in 2001.
Our friends at Victoria Electric had their very own tournament of "Hearts" when they decided to send the proceeds of their annual bonspeil to St. Mary's Cardiac Care Centre!
Thank you to our friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 469 for their generous donation of $4000 to our Region Cardiac Care Program.
These students at St. Augustine School in Cambridge worked together to raise $163.58 in support of St. Mary's Cardiac Care. Their group R.A.T.S. (Really Awesome Terrific Students), created t-shirts and the slogan 'have a heart' all to raise funds in support of St. Mary's. Thank you R.A.T.S.!!!

Thursday, March 3, 2011-St. Mary's Hospital's Inpatient Cardiac Nurse Shelley Hohl accepts a cheque from the New Hamburg Legion's Poppy Fund for $6,689 to purchase specialized equipment for the Regional Cardiac Care Program.
The Bank of Montreal has supported St.Mary's for years. Through their many community initiatives, their employees and clients alike have been a part of the growth and expansion of our Hospital. Recently Janet Peddigrew visited to present a cheque to Peter Sweeney, President SMGH Foundation and Don Shilton, Hospital President. This donation was proceeds from an event held at Bingeman's where guest speaker Dr Sherry Cooper spoke about today's economy and planning for the future.
The Waterloo Women's Institute holds a women's conference each year. In 2010, St. Mary's was the recipient of funds raised during the conference. Eleanor Barry, President, along with Ruth Jones, Past President are happy to present Susan Dusick, Vice President of St. Mary's Foundation with a cheque to support Cardiac Care.
Dianne Cunningham and Bob Sicard of UPI Energy along with Jim Fox of the Retired Teachers of Ontario presented a cheque to St.Mary's Hospital Foundation Development Manager Amy Atkinson. The donation of $9000 is proceeds from their annual golf tournament of which UPI was a major sponsor.
Cowan Wilkin Financial Services Inc.’s Andrew Wilkin and Rob Cowan present a cheque in support of Cardiac Care to President of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, Peter Sweeney.
Paul Straus, Vice-President and CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited, presented St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation, at St. Mary’s Hospital with a cheque for $100,000 as the final installment of the company’s commitment to donate $500,000 dollars to the foundation over four years.
The Waterloo Knights of Columbus Retired Members club held a parking lot sale during the summer of 2010 and raised $2000! They generously have directed $1000 of those funds to St. Mary's General Hospital. Thank you for your continued service to our community and support of our Hospital.

Cheryl is President of the Club which "recognizes the good work of our local hospitals and believes in supporting them so they can continue to provide the highest quality of health care for our community."
