As long time residents of Kitchener, the Reuben and Joyce left their mark on this community in numerous ways. In business, they owned and operated “La Vogue Ladies Wear” in downtown Kitchener for many years before retiring.
As devout members of the Beth Jacob Synagogue community, the Halpern’s faith helped them through a number of life’s heartaches, most notably the death of their only daughter Corrie from cancer at the age of 21.
Upon retirement, Reuben and Joyce could be found at Steve’s TV in Kitchener where they spent their time, and their gifts for the gab, speaking with customers and helping them pick out just the right movie.
A generous, hard working, respected and well loved family, the Halpern’s made it a priority to give back to the community. The plaque mounted in the hospital commemorates the lives of these wonderful people and serves as a thank you for their generous support of St. Mary’s and the community we serve.
