Diagnosing colon cancer is always upsetting for my patient and me, for it is the beginning of a challenging journey. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in Canada and yet, in many cases, it is preventable. If it is diagnosed at an early stage, it is curable in 90% of cases.
With the $1.2 million that our donors invested to expand our endoscopy suite, my colleagues and I have a greater capacity to both prevent and detect colon cancer at an earlier stage. Your generosity has allowed us to reduce our wait time by 25% and we can now see 1,300 more patients every year.
