Investing in excellence
While our Foundation was formally incorporated in 1986 to act as the official fundraising arm of the hospital, St. Mary’s has counted on the generosity of our community since 1924. In fact, it was only with the support of Kitchener’s industrial heavyweights that our hospital was built at all, when they contributed nearly all of the $150,000 it cost to build the hospital.
Our goal is simple – to tell the stories that make our hospital great and to ask the community to invest in our mission of healing and hope. Through your financial donations, we enable greatness in healthcare.
In the past eight years, our community has invested well over $40 million in our hospital and the impact of those investments speak for themselves – the country’s finest cardiac centre, a surgical program that is best-in-class, diagnostic technology that saves lives, and most importantly, the continuation of our mission and the legacy of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton.
We have benefitted from the incredible support of this great community for nearly 90 years and we look forward to working together to ensure we all have the healthcare we need and deserve. As the Sisters were fond of saying, it remains to us, an honour to serve the sick.
As a donor to our great hospital, you are a critical component of our story, and it is my privilege to share some of our stories with you. In every case, they would not have been possible without your support.
